"The Duchess" is 18th-century socialite Georgiana Spencer Cavendish (Keira Knightley), who survived scandal and became the adored purveyor of fashion and Whig politics. Georgiana was the great-great-great-great-aunt of Princess Diana. Like Di, she was glamorous and beloved by her public. She did not, however, win the heart of her husband, William, Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes). There is so much fodder for historical drama in Georgiana's life that it's a shame the director chooses only the most superficial story line instead of creating a more in-depth and balanced act. The DVD extras include a couple of featurettes
